Good going!

Thanks for all the help everyone. I'm so happy I got it working.

I've got a few questions though. It comes with SeaMonkey, should I keep that or go with Firefox?

I downloaded a Gnome icon set, how do I use these icons? I also downloaded a JWM theme but I'm not sure where it's located and how to set it.

Also, every time I boot, it goes to the blue screen where it askes me if I want to boot Linux or XP, or install Grub to one of those. I tried hitting "install grub to linux parition" but that didn't seem to change anything.

All I have to do is hit enter but I'd like it if it would go right into puppy linux

On the last question:

Edit /etc/default/grub (as root), find the line GRUB_TIMEOUT= and change it to GRUB_TIMEOUT=0

Then run, also as root
Code:

update-grub
Now the grub boot menu won't appear. If you need to get back to XP, hold down Shift before booting and the grub menu will show up.

I'm sorry I can't seem to find that file...

Well I messed something up. I used Gparter to give my hdd a bootflag and when I restarted it goes to a screen that says

Wary Puppy Linux
Linux 2.6.32-uni [i686 arch]

puppypc0613 login: root (automatic login)
#

And I can type stuff in.
I just want to get back to how it was, where I had a GUI or whatever.

If not then I think I'm done. Your solutions, business_kid, seem too complicated for my liking, too complicated/not worth it for something I'll barely use :/ haha.

Plop via floppy-disk: yes
bootable puppy usb with unetbootin? try it
Install puppy on usb? try it when the pc is booted with Puppy on the other usb (and perhaps stay with a floppy-plop / puppy-USB boot and dont touch your HDD.

No floppy drive
I dont think I can boot from usb unless plop was still installed, I think it went away when i deleted the xp partition

Have you check Bios for network boot?
