Installing KDE 3.4.2

Is it a good idea to remove my old version of KDE before installing the new one?

I think Slackware has KDE in /opt/kde.

Is that where I run the install files?

If you use slackpkg and do 'slackpkg update && slackpkg upgrade slackware' you should have KDE 3.4.2 when finished.

are you running -current or 10.1? -current is generally plenty stable. and 10.2 should be release any day.

Just make sure you drop out of X before upgrading.
