Question Installing kaffeine on eee pc

Hello all,

I am quite new to linux, so help and patience with my questions are both highly appreciated.

I have the eee pc 900, and it runs xandros linux. So far, I've loved working with it.

I bought an LG external cd/dvd drive for it, and it does not work.

So I was advised to install the Kaffeine media player, and to use a decryption code in the command line. (I did it all by myself and it worked. ^_^) However, though I've downloaded Kaffeine, I cannot for the life of me decipher the installation file.

Is there anyone out there willing to give me a step by step command list so I can use the Kaffeine player? It would be most appreciated!

Loving newbie,
tiffykun

here the thing all players use the xine librays so when you load kaffeine it is just a front in to xine. gxine is also what kaffeine uses so if you want a kaffiene player and you are running kde inviroment then find the packaage and load it. Read this. then just open your software manager and click update then install it. this should get you going I prefer gxine or xine but kafiene is very nice to.

It sounds like you are trying to build it from source. You should not have to do this. Just find a packaged binary for your distribution (it should have a repository) and install it from there.
