for starters there is no longer a sun java
sun no longewr exists
Oracle bought then out
and that link is to a very old version

and
the current bt is bt5 r2
and the tutorials are for the old bt4

Backtrack IS designed for VERY VERY EXPERIENCED "white hat" system crackers and network SECURITY administrators

not for the " never used Linux before " person

use the manual install instructions ON Oracles web site
http://www.java.com

http://www.java.com/en/download/help...64_install.xml

-- however ---
if you are not able to install java than you might NOT want to use BT

please install something designed with the NEW USER in mind
like
Ubuntu 12
or
LinuxMint
