Installing icon theme? i have a index.theme and index.desktop, no directions!

Hello everyone, i'm trying to install a icon theme called cyrstal clear. It has files of icons, it also has 2 files named index.desktop, and index.them. I'm running KDE 3.4, i opened the term and type din kcontrol, i then went into Look adn feel, then icons, then i clicked install a new theme, i selected first the index.theme file then clicked okay, then nothing happened, so i tried the index.desktop, nothing happened. ANy ideas how i can install this? Thank you!

i always pointed look and feel to the tar file i never extracted it.

awesome thanks ingvidlar it worked!! one more question, i'm using KDE, and i have a toolbar i shrank so it looks like a mac OS toolbar, but I can't change the default STAR icon that brings up the main menu, like progams/etc. I can change all the ohter icons on the toolbar though, any ideas on how i would go about changing the main icon?
