Installing GCC

I'm a noob on Fedora Core 3, and I'm attempting to install gcc with the instructions from the gcc.gnu website; however, I'm stuck on the configuring step because I don't know what I'm supposed to set my environment variables to. I made a srcdir in the gcc folder, included gcc-3.3.4/gcc in my path, and tried running configure, but it still didn't work, giving me the error
*** The command 'cc -o conftest -g conftest.c' failed.
*** You must set the environment variable CC to a working compiler.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

If you are running Fedora Core 3 couldn't you just do: 'yum install gcc' and have it install it for you?

What kind of error?
If you just don't have yum installed then you can get YUM for FC3 from:
http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pu...pdates/3/i386/

yum should be installed on fc3

It is included with default instatllations. But if you don't have it, download and install the rpms as mentioned.
