Installing games from a CD-rom

I just started learning linux. How do you install games and emulators from a CD-rom.I burned Nestra, Tuxnes, and unzipped nes roms on a CD. I can't or just don't know how to get this installed and running in Linux. I hope I can get help. Thanks

You need to give more details. Are these source code tarballs ending in .tar.gz or .tar.bz2? Are they precompiled packages ending in *.rpm, *.deb, or what?

nestra-0.66.tar.gz
tuxnes-0.75.tar.gz
tux-n-run.tar.bz2
lincity.tgz
These are the files. I'm guessing the roms might be a problem. They
all end in .nes

I was going to step you through this, but remembered this: http://www.linuxcommand.org/. Everything you need to know will be there, or in the README files contained in the source code tarballs you have downloaded.

To get started, open a terminal/konsole and copy the downloaded files into your /home directory.
Untar them: `tar -xzvf filename.tar.gz`, or `tar -xjvf filename.tar.bz2`.
Move into the uncompressed directory: `cd directory-name`.
List the contents of the directory: `ls`
Read the README and INSTALL files: `less filename`.
Follow the instructions.

Do it the hard way, yourself.

Believe me, the effort it takes now will pay huge dividends in the future. And the buzz you'll get when you _finally_ get it working will be immense
