Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide
This guide was created as an overview of the Linux Operating System, geared toward new users as an exploration tour and getting started guide, with exercises at the end of each chapter.
For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration. This book contains many real life examples derived from the author's experience as a Linux system and network administrator, trainer and consultant. They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own.

Im experinced Unix programmer, but have little experience installing Linux. A have downloaded a copy of Fedora 3 and burnt it to a DVD. On booting from the dvd im put in command prompt mode in dr-dos. Does anyone now how i go about installing it from here? What am i doing wrong?
Fedora Core 3 has a gui installer that automatically starts up when you press enter when the system has booted from the cd or dvd. If you don't press enter I think the installer automatically starts the gui after a short while (I know Mandrake does this, but I am not so sure about Fedora/Redhat).

Thanks but it seems that its dropping straight down to the command prompt without attempting to load up any apps. I suppose it is possible that the image I have burnt does not have the correct installer in the dvd root dir. This would be strange as it is an image of the download, the only difference is when burning the dvd i selected the "bootable" dvd option in nero. Does anyone know how to invoke the GUI installer manually?
