Installing fedora 12 from CD to unallocated hard drive

I am trying to install Fedora 12 on an old Sony Viao to learn how to use linux. I have formatted the hard drive so that it is completely unallocated space (only 20 gigs total). I have burned the image file for fedora 12 onto a live cd. When I boot from the CD, I am able to get to the user interface, but when I select the desktop icon to install fedora to the hard drive, nothing happens. I'm not sure exactly what I'm supposed to do at this point.

thanks a lot

Hi exzhou,
In Fedora 12, the touchpad mouse button is disabled by default. Try double clicking on the desktop install icon using the left-hand mouse button.

When I double click that icon, a box in the task bar opens that says "beginning installation" but after a few moments it disappears and the computer seems to stop working on it. An actual menu never appears.

Hi exzhou,
You could try installation through a text interface:
1 Open up a terminal: Applications > System Tools > Terminal
2 Type in the following command "/usr/bin/liveinst -T"
3 You should now be able to install Fedora through a text inferface

NOTE: The command in step 2 is case sensitive
