Installing Drivers
 

new linux user here - i have a soundblaster Live! sound card and im running Red hat 6.1 , it says the cards not supported but i downloaded the drivers form the creative website, the thing is - i dont know how to install it, any help is appreciated !!!!

Whet is the extension of the file: .tar.gz, .rpm?

the file is called emu10k1-0.3b.tar.gz

Copy the file to a safe directory (example: /usr/loca/src), then open a terminal, use
cd /usr/local/src
tar zxvvf emu10k<press tab here, then enter>
The archive will be unpacked. Among other files there'll be a file called INSTALL or README with instruction.
