Question Installing Downloaded Programs

I have SuSE 7.2 and have downloaded Yahoo Messenger. When I go to the installation application and click on it, the installer comes up.

Now the problem. When I select the program and click install, I get an error stating that I do not have permission, root permission is needed. How do I install this downloaded program using the desktop. I have not even ventured into the command world yet and would like to be able to do this without using the typed commands for now.
Thanks,
Dave

chmod is the command to change permissions.. chown to change ownership man chmod or chown for more details.. basically you can change the permissions in the GUI, just usually right click the file and select properties, there you should find permission settings and owner settings..

i suggest though getting familiar with command, it can be faster than the gui at times and more control too...

You need to be root to install because a user only has write permission to their home directory.
