Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide
This guide was created as an overview of the Linux Operating System, geared toward new users as an exploration tour and getting started guide, with exercises at the end of each chapter.
For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration. This book contains many real life examples derived from the author's experience as a Linux system and network administrator, trainer and consultant. They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own.

Let me start off by saying I'm a super-noob in Linux; if you have advice to give, assume that I don't know anything about working this OS at all (for you would be correct). I've been using Windows for 18 years straight; in short, help a brother out!
Anyway, I've been trying to install Cedega 6.0 on my Xantros. In theory, this should work fine, since I had the common sense to at least get the build of Cedega for the Debian Core. However, when I try to install it, I get the following error message:
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that
the package is simply not installable and a bug report against
that package should be filed.
cedega-small: Depends: python-gtk2 (>= 2.6) but it is not installable
Depends: python-glade2 but it is not installable
Now, I tried to install those two dependencies, but they sent me into Dependency Hell; each part of Python requires another part, to the point where I have to install what I don't have using other parts I don't have. In short, it's bad. Someone please tell me that there's an easier way to do this!
