installing ati driver rpm
Hi, Decided to install ATI driver for a 9600se graphics card.
linux:/home/cjae # rpm -U fglrx_6_8_0-8.12.10-1.i386.rpm make.sh: line 46: gcc: command not found make.sh: line 52: [: !=: unary operator expected /sbin/ldconfig: File /usr/X11R6/lib/FGL.renamed.libGL.so.1.2 is too small, not checked. Help, what did I do wrong. How come ATI doesn't have the instructions with this driver any more. I remember the first time I tried to install ATI drivers when 3D was still in development there where instructions. They even told you how to run check.sh. Oh Detected configuration: Architecture: i686 (32-bit) X Server: Xorg 6.8.1 |
looks like you didn't install any of the "developement tools" when you installed suse. you need them. install from cd or via apt or such like.

May I ask how you do this? I assume with YaST. Which development tools exactly?

I think you need to have "gcc" and "kernel-source" so search for them in yast
