Installing anything and dual booting
 

How to i install anything..new to linux but really quick learner also looking
for wondering if theirs a way to start avi files on startup and then close it after so many
seconds. wana do some a nice kde startup animation also using linux mandrake 8.2
(love it never set-up my adsl connection eaiser)

and hate to bug u all but how do i install windows after insatlling linux
Dont boo me for install windows (Dual Boot By the way)
windows is for games linux is my real power tool.

Probably the best thing to do is search for instructions on Dual booting using your favourite search engine. There are many detailed pages on how to do it.

If you have already installed Linux and did not leave a partion or free space for Windows, then it gets harder...and I'll let someone else handle that senario.

I was once trying to find out how to do it the other way, and I could only find pages that said how to install Windows Second.

It would also be a really good idea to assume that Linux will take a few days to understand even before you can even start learning the basics. I was also a fast learner and months later I'm still struggling to do simple tasks...but thats me working on it between assignments and exams.

it is a lot easier to install windows before you install linux.
But since you already have Linux installed, you have make sure you have a boot disk (or bootable CD) for linux, then you partition your hard drive to have a win32 Vfat (Fat32) partition for windows to be installed on. Install windows to that partition, windows will overwrite your master boot record on install, so you will need the boot disk to get back into linux. Once you boot off the linux boot disk and are in, you have to setup GRUB or LILO as your bootloader.
i am not really sure how to setup LILO or GRUB properly (i am having trouble trying to get it to boot Debian and Red Hat).
Wait!!.. if you are using KDE there might be a graphical LILO configuration tool somewhere in it (at least there is the tool in Red Hat with KDE 3, but maybe you didnt install it.)
