installing any software into fedora2
 

new to linux i have the fedora liunux 2 bible and fedora2 instaled works great! i know i can use windows software but i dont know how to install any thing into liunux other than the os if looked if read if googled im stumped. im to use to the just clicking the install icon in windows .have no idea were to start other than some comand line in some window and make some bin tar or rpm. im just not geting it help is ther so software that will just take care of this for me thanks for any help not help links

if its a bin file, just execute it as root.

as for rpm, read 'man rpm'

the basic syntax is "rpm -Uvh ./packagename.rpm" to install

thanks but that doesint tell me anything lets say i want to install half life ?whats the start and end .were do i begin enter comand were enter wich comand

since the above does not tell you anyhting... then i assume you have already followed it and installed a wine RPM.

to install half life.. slap the cd in.... then run the install program.
wine /mnt/cdrom/setup.exe
