Installing and Uninstalling -- The basics

Ok. I have a stable install of Mdk-9.1. All of my hardware is working correctly, and my system is completely stable. Now i want to start installing some software so i can actually use it.

Having decided on KDE as my desktop environment, i want to install a p2p app called nicotine. I have downloaded all the necessary depends and i am ready to install. I know that i have some verisions of the software needed, such a GTK and Python. I need to update GTK to the latest version and install PyGTK, a lib needed for nicotine to run. I know how to run ./configure and make and make install. But I dont know how to REMOVE old versions of software. How do uninstall things in Mandrake?

For software that is distributed as source simply 'cd' to the root of the source directory and type

make uninstall
