Hello everyone, I'm trying to figure out how to set up a media server that's compatible to run with my PS3 and keep running across some issues. So far, I've tried PS3 Media Server and MediaTomb. With PSM I got as far as setting up the configuration which ended in an error code of 800288E1 on the playstation end.

When I tried to use MediaTomb, I couldn't even get to the UI because I can't figure out how o properly edit the config.xml. When I try to, and actually get somewhere in the terminal, I get the message "bash: syntax error near unexpected token `newline'." I have no idea what this means or if I did something wrong in the edittiing.

I was going to attempt to completely uninstall both programs and restart from scratch, but then realized that I don't know how. I am fairly new to Linux distros so any help would be much appreciated. Thanks ahead of time.

Plex is also one that works. PS3 Media server though will translate between types.

How did you install it?

First I installed it by downloading the .tar then extracted and ran the command [sudo get-apt install] then the apt-update.
