installing and changing to a new window manager

Hey,

I have installed KDE as part of my new installation of SUSE, however, I really want to go back to Gnome.

I have tried to install it, and I think I have done so, yet I'm sure I need to alter a config file somewhere so that the computer starts Gnome (not KDE), when i type "startx". (I start the computer with runlevel 3)

When the computer boots in to runlevel 3 and I type "gnome", I get some errors.:

"Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
Xlib: Invalid MIT-MAGIC-COOKIE-1 key
xsetroot: unable to open display ':0'
Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
Xlib: Invalid MIT-MAGIC-COOKIE-1 key

(gnome-session:1872): Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display:"

Can anyone offer any help?

Thanks in advance
Hamish

You have to set off your X by typing:
$ logout
$ exit

Then type xinit and go to /etc/X11/xinit directory. You should have there a few files described as xinitrc.XXX where XXX is name of a window maker or enviroment. Then run one of that files by typing ./xinitrc.XXX . You can also edit .xinitrc file in your home directory an put there :
exec window_maker_or_sth
