installing an RPM
 

I would like to install a Python RPM. On the wbsite they have downloads for RPM's for Fedora Core 3 similar and Mandrake 9.2 similar distros.

If I am running SuSE 9.1, is it similar to Fedora or Mandrake?

it's on your disks, no need to go looking for it. start yast, go to add/remove software and search for python.

I did that before I wnet to the python website. Searches kept coming up blank, but I'll give it another try, fool with search parameters...

just checked with YaST again and there are no python things! Perhaps there was a second ISO I should have burnt to get these things?

Actually, my YaST doesn't find anything! I've searched for python, Open Office (already installed) and OpenGL (not sure of install status). The search never turns up anything! It's like the CD isn't working, but I can read it if I browse to the directory.

It also strikes me that it should autorun...and it doesn't.
And while I'm on a roll with complaints, kaffeine starts up every single tim eI log on...

Thats coz you are using Suse 9.1 personal. You need to configure yast to use 9.1 professional rpm repositories. Unfortunately I have not used Suse for a while, so I con't give you an accurate guide on how to do this.
