Installing an external modem


How do I install a usrobotics 56k modem in redhat 7.1?

Autodetected it on install with my system. Maybe I switched it on during install.

% modemtool

should find it too.

Just run it:
modemtool
This "%" was just a sign of a command line, I think.

Sorry, that wasn't very clear.

% modemtool

where % is a command line.

Seeing as you're running RH7.x, try running:

% rp3-config

which is the dialup modem configuration program and letting it autodetect your modem. It should find it. Make sure that the correct COM port is set up in modemtool otherwise the modem will be on connect but the computer won't see it.
