Installing a program...
 

I have a PS3 and I just installed Yellow Dog 6.1 on it. I am trying to install a nintendo 64 emulator on it (this will be the main purpose of linux for me). I went into terminal and followed this website http://geekdomain.wordpress.com/2007...nux-gz-bz-rpm/
I go into terminal and type:
cd (location)
su
(password)
Then this is where it doesn't work.. I type:
./configure and it says that the thing doesn't exist. This is the site I got it from (you could download it and try it for yourself) http://mupen64.emulation64.com/down.htm I unzip it and it shows a folder on the desktop. Any help would be great.. If you could give me the exact code I need that would be even better. Thanks

I just remembered... When I saw a tutorial on the PS3 installation they had super mario and they were playing on it using the PS3 controller... How do I hook up my PS3 controller to be used in Linux?

I have been googling it and I found that you just have to double click the Mupen64 file and it opens... I just tried it and nothing happened for me. For some reason I can't seem to double-click anything to open it. I thought you always had to right click and press open to open things. As you can see I'm a real linux NOOB. I really need help.

After you successfully uncompress the tar.bz2, I assume the next thing is to go to AND actually see the content of the created directory. I say this because: such a directory will in most cases have a README or INSTALL file (or something similar) --- this files may be having useful info regarding the install procedure.

The generic steps which start with doing ./configure requires the presence of a file with the same name within the created directory.

Sorry I did not try the complete install myself as you suggested. But I see that there is a pdf file doc/readme.pdf and somewhere around the 10th page it says you can get the GUI of that programme if you do

./mupen64

Do this just within the created directory --- I actually got the GUI. Maybe you can take it from there.

OK I tried that and it gives me the error ./mupen64 1: ELF not found ./mupen64 2: syntax error: word unexpected
I have since updated to ubuntu 8.10 and it runs a lot smoother than yellow dog for me.
This is exactly what I typed...
cd /home/justin/Desktop/mupen64-0.5
sudo ./mupen64
Then it gives me the error...
I tried it without the sudo and it says bash: ./mupen64: cannot execute binary file
I really need help with this.
