Question installing a network printer

Hey how's it going,

I've gotten my installation of Slackware 8.1 working great now, I just have a couple little additions I would like to make.

My system is on a LAN, along with a few printers I would like to be able to print from. I've found lots of info on the net on installing local printers, but not networked printers. Any suggestions? Thanks

Another networking related questions: How can I connect to a folder on a networked drive (ie, an NTFS remote disk)? Can I mount it locally, like a removable disk, and then just 'cd' to it or something like that?

Thanks,
TP

for the network hard drive, I would turn your attention to one of two solutions:

1) if it's networked from windows, it's probably using SMB. Go with the SAMBA package

2) if it's unix, you're looking at NFS...so, check out the NFS tutorials

depending on the printer, TCP/IP might just work, as long as you configure spooling properly (as in, to point to the networked printer)

Thumbs up smbclient

Thanks for the advice. I've gotten access to my folder on the drive using smbclient, which is ok but I' d be kind of suprised if this is the best way to handle this. Is there another tool in the Samba package that I missed, or another way to access this stuff?

Thanks Again
TP
