installing a GUI on Ubuntu server

I am not sure if this is the correct place to start, but here go’s:
I am a newbie to linux and am exploring Ubuntu’s 8.10 server . My question is how one can install a K or J desktop on this software. It is easier for me to use a GUI than command line.

sudo aptitude update
sudo aptitude install ubuntu-desktop
sudo /etc/init.d/gdm start
This should do it

sudo aptitude install ubuntu-desktop
sudo /etc/init.d/gdm start
This should do it
