Question installing 3-mobile

I too am a newbie to linux i have installed my 3-mobile dongle onto my netbook acer aspire one, which has linux as the OS.

I have managed to get as far as having the mobile partner on the connect tab, and there is a signal but there is a red x showing that nothing is connected, i have tried using the web browser but i just get page 'not found error' is there anyone who has installed 3-mobile broadband onto linux OS?
if so are there any tips or advice as to what i do next?

I haven't been able to get this working since i brought the netbook a couple of months ago and it is starting to get on my nerves now.

The service needs to be activated using a Windows machine, and then, after the service is initially activated, you can do pretty much what you did already, and it should work. The modem isn't welcome on the broadband system right now. It's working on the lappy, but not on the broadband system.

Guide for Sprint, but generic enough to work with most others:

I think 3-Mobile is a pay as you go, and as of yet, for security reasons, it won't work with Linux. I read a blip on The Register about 3-Mobile. Did you look at the pdf link I posted in my last reply?
