Installed Ubuntu 10.4 on Acer Aspire 7735-6458

All working beautifully save no internal record or web cam, hence no phone capability either with Skype. Acer will have zero warranty conversations due to OS system change. Previously the machine was crashing mostly while using Open Office. I am hopeful we have that mastered.

Um, is there a question here? What is it exactly that you want?

Also, I don't believe warranties can be voided just by installing an alternate OS. But why are you asking about warranties? Is there a problem with the actual hardware? Have you checked the HCL for your specific webcam?

Try this to get Microphone working in Ubuntu 10.4.
As for the webcam, that's a little tricky...(I'm still looking).

EDIT: I'll agree with zootboy, it's not really obvious what question(s), if any, you have.

Okay, as for the webcam, two things from the command-line would be helpful;

The output from the "lsusb" command might help. Not all of the output, just the line(s) that you think relate to the webcam.

Run "gstreamer-properties" and see if it works with vlc.
