Installed new Alsa drivers, warning messages

I installed the new alsa drivers, hoping that they'd possibly make the sound come out the right output jack on my computer, but no such luck. Anyway, followed the instructions, edited modules.conf with the handy script, and did a modprobe. Everything APPEARS to be upgraded (when I went into alsa mixer, everything was muted, and read 1.0.0, not the original version number). However, when I boot, I get these messages:

Module snd loaded, with warnings....
and every module having to do with sound on my system is loaded through...
Module snd Intel8x0 loaded, with warnings

Where can I find these warnings? What can I do about them? Do I need to do anything about them? My guess is that they're pertaining to things in my config file that shouldn't be there, but I don't know what to delete other than the things that the Alsa docs specifically said. I am a newb. Go easy.

Figuring it was the old drivers, I uninstalled them and lost Gnome. Go figure. So I put the old drivers back (and got Gnome back) and uninstalled the new ones... Any clues what went on though?
