Question Installed fedora 9 and 10 minutes later problems

i hope that somebody can help me

i just installed fedora 9
and my taskbar is gone
rebooting does also not help

and my second problem is
that the font is to small to read
like
the listviews are to small
menu's are to small
terminal is to small

only the desktop and taskbar font is good
but if i just make the font bigger than everything looks like a mess

is that problem because i did not installed nvidia drivers ?
my screensize is : 1360x768

i hope that somebody can help me with my 2 problems
thanks

I will tackle this slightly differently.

1) you choose the best screen size based on your monitor capabilities. Nearly all LCDs will tell you what that is. CRTs that are old you may have to play with.

You need a horizontal rate of at least 73 Hz and then go for the highest vertical rate which is KiloHz.....size does matter.

2) size does matter because after choosing a larger screen size you automatically get smaller icons and fonts relative to that new size.

Then you change your icon and font sizes using your window manager or environment tools such as in KDE control centre

3) So pls research your monitor and video card resolutions and if no luck post your hardware.

screen

Perhaps you have not tried the simple change of screen resolution. 1042x786 is generally a good choice. Being a tad short-sighted myself I like a big screen and squinting at graphics/writing is not on. Also you could try 840x600?
