Installed Evolution, but no way to start it!

Running Mandrake 9.1, and have just reinstalled fresh. Evolution 1.2 was installed be default, so I figured I should upgrade to 1.4. I followed the easy, can't-screw-it-up instructions from Ximian.com, and screwed it up. After the install is complete, I click start-networking, mail, and there is no evolution. After searching for a file named evolution, I didn't find any executable (although I may have looked straight at it...).

On a previous install, I didn't install evolution by default, and tried just loading the new version. Same results.

On yet another install, I tried not installing by default, and tried using evolution from Texstar. Still no good.

What the heck am I doing wrong?

!!
Running evolution from the terminal started it!

OK - now I know that it is installed, and that it just simply did not make entries on my start panel. It is in the path, because I can start it from any directory. How can I find the location of the evolution executable? I know in old MSDOS, I'd just just open autoexec.bat and look for path=...

zzzt, the command:
which evolution
will display the path of the binary. If your path is messed up, the shell will come back with "no evolution in /user/bin/whatever"
If you want to launch it from the desktop (assuming KDE), right-click on the panel, add non-KDE application and give it the file path. If in Gnome, the procedure is similar.

And don't run it as root. If you're running it from a terminal, run it as a normal user.
