installed and still wont run
i am sure this has already been answered on here but i couldnt find it anywhere, so sorry if it has.
i have installed redhat 8.0 and when it goes to boot all i get is L L L L L L L L L L L somethimes there is only one L and other times it is all the way down the left side of the screen. what is going on here? how do i get it to boot? |
Looks like it might be the beginning of the "LIWrong..." error but your screen is not printing the message. I had this problem after upgrading from 7.2 to 8.0. I fixed it by running through the install and creating a boot disk when prompted, then using that boot disk while inserted to boot up.

is there a reason for this that can be changed in the install or do i need new hardware? whats the rest of the "LIWrong....." error?

You need to create a boot disk during installation and try to boot from it. When LILO can't run it usually prints a number (assigned to an error message), something like 'L 09'. I your case there's no number, so it's hard to say what's wrong. A boot disk should help.
