Installation question
I am about to try Fedora 12. I noticed that most of the mirrors listed for this in lq have 2 isos. The first download listed has 4 - Live, Live 2, Live KDE, Live KDE 2. If I choose to use gnome instead of KDE, can I just burn and install the first two?
Thanks. |
The four live Fedora 12 iso's ..
First group : 32 - bit , x86 1) Gnome : Fedora-12-i686-Live.iso 2) KDE : Fedora-12-i686-Live-KDE.iso Second group : 64 - bit , x86_64 1) Gnome : Fedora-12-x86_64-Live.iso 2) KDE : Fedora-12-x86_64-Live-KDE.iso ... You could have hovered the mouse over the link to see that, or used ' copy link location ' ( right click shows ). So you will only need one .. ..... Besides the above there are install DVD(s) available too. And a 150? MB net install iso. ..... |
fedora 12 install
Go to the fedora project home page.
Determine if you have a 32 or 64 bit cpu then download the dvd install verify the DVD image downloaded using sha256sum then afterwords burn the DVD at the speed indicated on the DVD or slower. then use the DVD self check when you boot up the install.... verifiying the dvd sha256sum is very important to make sure the downloaded image is not corrupted. if you are going to have a dual boot system be careful how you install you might wipe out windows. |
