HELP!

I am trying to install Red Hat 7.1 on an old 486 DX4/80 with 40Mb RAM. It won't boot from the CD so I have created a boot floppy from the dist CD. It gets to the image prompt OK; I enter "text" (or whatever) and it starts booting linux until it gets to the "Checking WP bit" which returns OK and then the kernel crashes with a NULL pointer dereference error.

I have tried it with the "mem=nopentium" boot param but no change.

This happens if I boot off the install boot floppy, or off the hard drives which I installed earlier on another machine.

I guess I would like to know what comes immediately after the WP bit check in the boot sequence, and is there anything I can do to get past it....

Thanks in advance
