Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide
This guide was created as an overview of the Linux Operating System, geared toward new users as an exploration tour and getting started guide, with exercises at the end of each chapter.
For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration. This book contains many real life examples derived from the author's experience as a Linux system and network administrator, trainer and consultant. They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own.

I bought Redhat linux 9 Personal the other day.
heres my scenerio:
I have Windows Xp pro and I want to keep it. I also want linux on my machine. As I am a noob to Linux I accedentally deleted my NTFS partition.
I tried the Graphical Installation but it doesn't work. My Generic monitor turns off and my other disply (Sony Trinitron) spews stuff all over the screen. So I tried Text Based.
Then i reinstalled Windoze and I went to Install Linux again this time in text mode. I auto partitioned my drive and I started Installation as normal. It went all smoothly and I configured my GRUB loader and all that, and when it started installation it went fine. Then I got to the part where it asks for the 2nd cd-rom. I inserted it (frsh, crisp, brand new, never been touched) and it said it was the wrong one. I tried all the discs and it said the same thing (in case it was mislabled).
So I thought it was just a mistake. I have tried serveral times to do this, always with the same result.
My current configuation is:
AMD Athlon XP 2500+
ASUS A7N8X 2.0 Deluxe Mobo
2X512 MB Corsair PC3200 ram
ASUS V9520 Series
Western Digital Raptor (36 gig SATA)
Is there any way to boot from the HDD, and If so, how do I get the files onto a Partition readable by the installer?
Has Anyone else expierienced these problems and fixed them?
Any help would be appreciated.
