Installation Problem on Red Hat 9

Im about to run the install on Red Hat 9.

So I pop in th CD, turn XP to boot mode, and the CD boots.

once it boots it gives me a few options, like if i want to run the text installer, or graphical. I choose graphical.

I get into a really old looking type of install..after a few language questions it asks me where the RH9 CD Is, i say CD-Rom, it says its not there.

But i just used it to boot...

Is this a case of a bad CD Burn?

Sometimes if you have hardware that is not very compatible with Linux, you will get those types of errors. You can always do the text install and try that. Its not really text but dont look all that great.
Its possible that the install reverted to text install do to video incompatiblity which is why it looks like old text. I have one machine that I had to fight forever to get Redhat installed on. Time to get creative or start swapping hardware.

Yea I just tried the text boot and its the "same" as the graphical.

Maybe I can try booting from one of my other Computers CD-ROMs...if thats possible.

Yeah, swap them out and see if that makes a difference. Its also possible that the cd is screwy, but not likely. I believe there is a point in the installation that lets you check the integrity of the cd. Does it go that far?

Actually, my other computer I have access to right now is a laptop :(

I ran the text install and it is basically the same, except im getting the CD check right now, so that will hopefully answer my question on whether its the CD or not.

Also, what i was thinking of, was if my Desktop could boot from the CD-ROM on my laptop via shared hardware.

I've Installed software like this before when my CD-ROM was acting up on a certain install.

Note: Media Check of the image failed...

looks like a kicked up a lot of hassle for nothing.

time to re-download and re-burn
