Installation of Squid Guard in RHEL 4
I am trying to install squid guard 1.4. I have downloaded it from squidguard.org. But it requires other things like
* Bison * Flex * Berkeley DB V.2.7.7, V3.2.x or 4.x (original site: www.oracle.com/database/berkeley-db/index.html). Annotation: Berkeley DB version 4.7 gives error messages during compilation. Up to version 4.6 the compilation runs fine. * A C compiler like GCC From where should I get Bison, Flex and others. I have searched but failed to find. Please tell me about the location from where I may download. |
Have you tried to use the package manager to install it ?

I am talking about yum.
yum install squidguard |
You need to read the previous answer and unlearn some habits from other operating systems.
What you should have done is to use your package manager. If it is not on the CD it should get what you want from the 'net, provided you have appropriate repositories configured (and I would guess that you would have by default). This would also solve dependencies withour any extra effort on your part. If you insist on using the manually downloaded version, you should be able to solve the dependencies manually. How? Please read the previous answers. |
