Installation of Fedora on Computer with only Command.com on it
Hi, I just bought a second hand desktop () Toshiba Equium 7350M P3-733mhz 512mb Ram, 14.6Gig HDD, FDD, CD-rom, that has just command.com in it. I downloaded Fedora (fedora. redhat .com / Download / install.html)
FC4-i386-disc1.iso FC4-i386-disc2.iso FC4-i386-disc3.iso FC4-i386-disc4.iso (I have a Windows XP laptop for this) I burned these on 4 different CDs, went back to the new desktop, changed the primary boot option to ATPI-CDROM and then entered the first CD in the drive. It won't pick it up, it still shows me the command prompt C:/ Any ideas? |
How did you burn the CDs? If you view the CDs and all you see is the iso file then they were not burned correctly. You can not just simply drag and drop the files.
Nor can you extract the files and then burn because the CDs will not be bootable. Using Nero or Roxio see the following: http://www.linuxiso.org/viewdoc.php/howtoburn.html If you do not have any CD burning application then download iso recorder. http://isorecorder.alexfeinman.com/isorecorder.htm |
I think you might be right Michael. I used Roxio for burning but did not do all the settings that were specified on the link. Will burn the Cd's again with the proper procedure. Thanks!!!:Pengy:
