any formal mirror will be fine, our site included. don't use fc4 or 5, 8 is out now, so use 8.

thanks But

.. Thanks but i think my system supporting fedora 5 itself will become slow.. I have a P 4 wit 2.8 processor without a graphic accelarator.. my graphic accelarator is inbult intel 845 only.. So suggest a good version to put.. i think fedora is more than sufficient..

graphics capabilties are irrelevant, you will not get any performance issues if you don't do too much on the guest. it's just as easy to do too much on an old distro as a new one.

before you burn cd's you should be checking the md5sum of the file. you can download the images from this site. just click the download link at the side --->

it's substantially more likely that something is going wrong during the specific download, not the remote site itself.

Why dont you buy 1 fedora DVD from some vendors like us. Downloading in india will cost you a bomb if you are paying per MB download.

A P-4 2.8 Ghz should very well support Fedora-8, no graphics accelerator is required to run normal X-desktop. It entirely depends on how much memory your system has. FC8 should work fine if you have 256 MB system memory (recommended 512MB) . Installation guide for fedora 8 can be found here http://www.linuxinstallations.com/co...-installation/ .
