Installation CD won't boot kernel
 

I just downloaded and burned the 4.3 version ISO onto a CD from my PC and was trying to load onto my old laptop. The ISOLINUX boots up normally and takes me to the screen thats says boot. Like the installation says I just press enter for the normal ide kernel. It begins loading the kernel and then gives me this error message:

Disk Error 20, AX=4200, drive 82
Boot failed: press a key to retry

I tried several attempts to boot and it comes up with the same error message. I'm trying to install it without any other operating systems on the computer. The ISO is fine and not corrupted. Please tell me what this message mean and how to resolve the problem. I am very agitated because I have tried several linux distributions and all have failed to either install or boot all with different problems. I would really like to know how to get past new annoyance and install vector linux because I'm tired of trying new distibutions. This has been a bad experience for someone new to linux who just wants a good FUNCTIONAL linux OS on his old laptop.
Here are some of the specs (my laptop meets the requirements):
192 MB RAM
4 GB harddrive
400 MHZ Celeron processor
Please tell me how to get past the error message.

Looking at that error message through groups.google.com, it looks like you either have a bad burn (the MD5 sum can be fine, but the burn of your .iso can get screwed up), or you may have a physical problem with the hard drive. If the drive worked fine prior to this, it would seem to simply be a bad burn. Use your burner again, and burn the iso at a low speed, that has improved the burn for me in several cases. If the distro has the option to check media, do that and see if the problem is the CD you are trying to install from.

Hey I tried my CD on my good computer (512 MB RAM, 120 GB HD, and Windows XP). It booted just fine. My laptop could be reaching its end. It's and old toshiba I bought off of ebay (I WILL never do that again). It has a 400 MHZ Celeron, 128 MB of RAM, a 4 GB HD, and a regular CD-Drive. I think my CDROM might be going bad which would explain the error. I think I'll wait tell I either get a better laptop or I get a second hard drive for my PC. It's a good thing I didn't delete any of my distributions, I got a lot of linux systems I can choose from. Anyway, I really appreciate your help. As a computer lover and a person who almost passed the A+ certification exam (I failed the hardware, but pass the software), I should have done some troubleshooting. But I was a little bit frustrated, so I lost my train of thought. I will get linux on my PC eventually. I won't delete Windows XP though as it is my prime OS right now and I was raised in a windows world (except in elementary, where we messed with macintosh). I appreciate your help though and look forward to conversing with you all once I get my computer preped for two OS. Until then I'll see ya later.

hey i had the same problem here is my solution
 

I burned my slackware 12 to three cds and mi pentium 4 pc booted fine.. but my compaq armada 1571DM died loading initrd.
with disk error 20 ..

the problem is that the cdroom of my compaq armada y too old..
y reburned the images as 8X (minimum speed for my recorder) and it worket fine.
good luck. no one seemed to know how to help me..
