First you charge him $500 extra for the trouble. Then tell him that the TCO will be $500 per month. Then see if a empty primary partition (use gparted) is available or else resize some other partition for a c: drive with fat32/ntfs. Install grub finally with the ubuntu CD...so that it becomes a dual boot system.

When you googled "install windows xp on ubuntu" for a solution to your problem, did any of the 713,000 pages offer a solution?

Assuming the PC originally came with XP, Boot from the Windows CD and Format the Drive as an NTFS drive and follow the prompts to complete the installation including installing the Drivers from the Drivers Disk.

If you don't have the CD's that originally came with the machine the buyer is going to have to purchase a copy of Vista for installation because the stores were supposed to stop selling XP a few weeks ago.
