installation

i had a triple boot system.hda has been divided into 8 partitions.
hda6 has Mandrake 10.0 installed and hda7 has debian installed into it.
hda8 is swap partition.
I got a boot sector virus in windows xp pro (hda1).so i had 2 drives in windows
itself.
1) c:\> consisting of 10 GB
2) d:\> consisting of 10 GB

so i had to format c:\> drive as i coudn't boot itself.i now decided to keep
only 4 GB for windows installation so i had to partition the c:\> drive to
== 4 GB for windows
== remaining 6 GB for storing data ( FAT32 partition )

now the partition table had changed to 9 partitions....

The MBR ofcourse had been overwritten when i installed windows again on
c:\> drive

now i used linux rescue command from Mandrake 10.0 CD but it eas booting into hda6 which is not the previous Mandrake installation as the installation
is on hda7 now ( after rewriting the partition table )

plx help me to recover my linux partitions....
i have some good data which i had collected from month's together.
i hope u all do understand why i desperately want to fing a soluttion ....

reply at the earliest
thankx to u all to maintain such a wonderfull and exhaustive form :=)

I'm not 100% certain how to re-write the MBR, but I can tell you how to save your data. If you can boot to windows, you can use explore2fs to view and copy the data to your windows partition. Then, just burn it on a CD. If you cannot boot to windows, you can use Knoppix Live CD to do the same thing.
