Installatiion failure

When I try to install Red Hat 9 from CDs, the initial installation screen appears, but my keyboard loses all functionality -- including the lights that normally appear on the keyboard.

When I try to install Fedora Core 3 from CDs, the initial installatiion screen
appears and my keyboard works properly, but when I press the ENTER key,
the screen becomes blank and remains blank.

Finally, when I try to install Red Hat 8 from the CDs enclosed in a book about Red Hat, the installation works, but Disk Druid fails to recognize my
external hard drive, on which I would like to install linux.

I have a new Dell 4700 currently running Windows.

Can you help? I am becoming very frustrated!

Thank you

Cool

Hi
It looks like linux is not compatible with something on your PC. It mite be your mother board chip-set ....that the kernel does not like...!
Have you tried installing it on another system that's not a dell system.
