Spell our your words, please...

And do you mean RedHat ENTERPRISE 5.2, or RedHat 5.2?? If you're using enterprise, call RedHat support, since you're paying for it. If you're NOT paying for it, try using CentOS instead...it's essentially the same as RHEL, but community supported/free. Also, it supports alot more 'consumer grade' equipment than RHEL does, since RHEL is geared more towards business servers.

How far do you get in the installation process, or does that message come up immediately? You can try to do the installation with a "-noprobe" or "-noacpi" option, and see if you get further.

I was having this issue installing 5.3 but in the end I just installed 4.7 on my system and it works fine. I couldn't figure out why it didn't work. I kind of took the easy way out. But later just for kicks I tried an upgrade to 5.3 from that same system and it worked fine.<br>

raaatuuul:

At boot time press Esc or Tab <whatever is allowed in your system> to get into the installing kernel options. Since you are using core2dou try switch On some params:

acpi=on
apic=on

See if it goes well.

Hope this helps. Good luck.
