But when i get the the load gui to hit next i can not see the option. the screens resolution is to big. im using a 17" crt monitor, its an old genaric monitor doesnt have a name on it. is there a way to change the resolution. im a newbie that just finish the intro class of unix.

Hi,

When you first boot up the FC4 CD (and you're at the options screen), there should be a button to press eg: "Press F2 for help". If you go there, there should be an option for changing the screen resolution.

If not, you can add the following phrase to the boot parameters: "xmodule=vesa" (without the quotation marks). That should give you a decent resolution.

Cheers,

Ps. Welcome to LQ! ;)

Sorry it took so long to get back. im still not able to the the install screen to a smaller size. the load screen when it asks u to check the disk is changing size but when it got to load the os i cant move to hit next or enter or back. and cant read the rest of the info. I might just have to wait till Fedora core 5 is released and see it i can do it then.
