Install over Linux

Yes, another silly question :newbie: :(

I have installed the slackware 8.0, and now i want to install over it slackware 9.0
how do i do???
can i only reinstall de kernel?
and if i just want to reinstall the whole system?
tanx!

It's usually easiest to just pop the Slackware 9.0 CD into the drive and boot to it, then format and re-install as if you were starting from scratch. Backup anything important, of course.

That would only be a kernel upgrade. The reason for a new distro version is all the other stuff.

Ideally you format and do a clean install.

yes that's what i want, but i can't make a booteable cd of slack 9 :( don't know how
isn't there a way of running it from the cd?
or how can i make slack9 booteable cd? i have the iso version burned only

As long as you can see the Slackware files on the CD (as opposed to some_filename.iso), it should be bootable. The only other hurdle is making sure that you can boot to any CDRom. You can configure this in your BIOS.

yes i can, but the cd is not booteable, anyway i put a booteable diskette, much easy :P
