Install one more Kernel

Hai All,

Please give me a few guidelines to install one more kernel into my linux system. I have a kernel of 2.4.2-2. I do want to install one more kernel which is in the RH 8.0 distribution. I have the RH 8.0 CDs. So I have the rpm of the new kernel.

How can I install the new kernel wihout loosing the old kernel?. Because my win modem only supports 2.4.2 kernel. And the kernel in RH 8.0 does not support my winmodem. So please help me to install more stable and new kernel without loosing my old one.

Please help me as I am a newbie and If anything goes wrong, I know that my system will crash. So please help me .

Waiting for your reply. Thanks in Advance.

Bye.

If your winmodem is working with the kernel you got and everything else you need is supported I'd suggest to stick with it.
You can have several different kernels and choose at boot which one to use but I have no idea what happens when you install a new one with a rpm.
