Install MSOffice in Fedora with WINE


I try to install MSOffice 97 in Fedora 10 with wine. Version 1.1.15.
I obtain the following text message (in windows / temp) (long message):

Install open office latest, abi word and koffice .

They are far better

That is not helpful....You may think they are better (and I agree mostly), but sometimes people really DO need MSOffice.

I'm not skilled in setting up WINE---you might also want to look at the commercial version: CrossOver (http://codeweavers.com)
They offer a free trial.

Dear Pixelanny,
yes, I am one of the persons that really NEED MSOffice. I am workging into a group of WIN users and a doc written/edited in OO is not 100 % compatible with MSOffice. There issues like formatting or numbering that are not preserved very good when you play with the doc between MSO and OO.
I will try the program that you suggest me - the trial is fully functional ?

But was wine ever designed to run office-97?

You are supposed to check log files of the installer (1603)... wine does not have any problems...

I read in a revue that MSOffice 2003 was installed with WINE. Why not XP also ?
I will put a stupid question - where can I find the log file of the installer ?
