Question Install Mint 9 KDE with installation parameters?

I want to install Mint 9 KDE but I need to specify some installation parameters. I need to set the default filesystem as EXT3 so I can create a disk image with Acronis True Image that doesn't support EXT4 yet.

I've done the same with Ubuntu Server 10.04 by including the parameter 'partman/default_filesystem=ext3' at the installation console. I know Mint 9 Gnome can also be installed direct from the CD, but the KDE Live DVD doesn't give me any such option - just the desktop installer.

How do I customise the installation of Mint 9 KDE?

Hi Genogebot,

Is there a particular reason that you need to create a disk image with Acronis?

I don't have any experience with the Mint installation as such, but many installation tools give you the option to specify your own partitioning scheme - maybe by opting for an "advanced installation". You could do the partitioning yourself, then you'd get to choose exactly what you want.

I use Acronis TrueImage to create whole-disk backups that are quick and easy to create and restore. I've tried using the open-source alternatives and they don't even come close to the ease of use of TrueImage. (Sorry if that sounds like an advertisement - it isn't, and Acronis can be a frustrating bunch to deal with, for example their glacial slowness in updating their software to support the EXT4 file system - and they'll probably restrict it to the next version that customers will have to pay to upgrade to). The best alternative I've found is remastersys, which actually has some advantages over TrueImage (such as creating a Live DVD with installer) but I'd like to keep using TrueImage as well because it retains all the driver installations whereas remastersys doesn't.

As it turns out, this is now a moot point because I have ditched the KDE version of Mint 9 (http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=56&t=53732). I would have marked it as solved, but of course it isn't really solved - more like 'abandoned'.
