install media player on ubuntu offline

how to install media player on ubuntu.
i don't have net on pc with ubuntu.
which player ishould prefferto play all types of video files(mp4 etc.)

Mplayer, Xine, Totem, or Kaffeine are all good players. However, you'll still need to download them first, BEFORE you can install them. You can download the mplayer source and codecs for file types from the Mplayer website, and get them to your ubuntu machine somehow, and compile them.

Since you posted this, you've obviously got Internet access...so hook your Ubuntu machine up, and install via net.

Did you install medibuntu too ?
Some media players are a part of medibuntu.
And easy to install .
VLC is also a good player
