They might be referring to XAMPP, which is designed for testing and NOT for production websites (though I did self-host a small little-noticed website for several years with it, after heeding all the security warnings at their homepage).

XAMPP used to be called LAMPP.

have you read the very well updated red hat documentation ?
On the red hat web site .

most is already installed by default on a RHEL 5.5 or RHEL 6

you really WILL need to read the doc page on just HOW to configure things , but
Code:
su -
yum groupinstall "Web Server"

Yes it means you need to install all these on your linux box, you can install them separately or if you have yum repository configured then you can install by the yum groupinstall Web Server.

Hi elainelaw,

I have successfully configured LAMP (with phpMyAdmin) on CentOS 5.5.

Try the link in my previous post and get back if you have some problems.

I will be happy to help you out.

Also, you can configure phpMyAdmin (optional) easily through this link.
Just make sure you download phpMyAdmin-2.11.11-english.tar.bz2 from here.
