I've never installed Joomla before, and I can't find anywhere how to install it. Can someone please explain to me how to install it? I've heard I need MySQL but I can't even get that installed. I need this for a new job I just got. I'm desparate for help, please help.

Thanks a bunch!!!

Unhappy

That doesn't have anything in there that shows how to install anything or is of any help. It's just talking about help. It doesn't link to anything. Thanks for trying.

There really isn't much to installing Joomla, although if you can't get MySQL installed, then you have trouble. If you tell us what distro you're using, we may be able to help. As far as installing Joomla, that link debiant gave you has a link to the Joomla Installation guide. Check on the left side of the screen in the box labelled Official Manuals.

All these are for linux compilance

Requirements,
Apache

1. download tar.gz to your sys
2. extract it tar zxvf joomla...tar.gz
3. configure your apache (link with your host directory)
4. check your mysql
5. just browse your host url
6. just follow web installation

good luck

Exclamation

That doesn't show me how to install Joomla or MySQL. How do I open the installer? ./install? I don't understand PHP. I guess I'll never get this thing installed.

I understand you are novice on linux. but you should try with testing server to install all require packages. Most linux distrbution have Apache,Mysql and PHP as OS services. So when you install your testing server, you just take care all these packages are selected.
I give you example with Redhat linux. To check this packages are install or not.
rpm -q httpd (for apache)
rpm -q mysqld (for mysql)
rpm -q php (for php)

good luck
