Install help with Slackware 10.0 from CD

A little quick background, I ran Red Hat 5.0 back in the late 90's on a 486 so I do have some experience and a bunch of books. I want to set up a Lamp Box on Uncle Fester to test web sites. It is running dos on a small FAT16, I wouldn't loose any sleep if that all went away.
The problem is during set up it does not find a slackware CD. The cd image boots from bios fine, but when setup searches for the files it just spins and becomes unresponsive.

The cd is an AOpen CRW4048 (always been a POC IMHO), the image I am using is Slackware-10.0-install-d1.iso. Do I have the correct iso or do I need to pass something to the kernel at the boot prompt?

Uncle 'F' is a 233MMX (architecture 5) with 98Mb SDram, 6.4Gb drive and all PCI boards.

I did an install of the old RH 5.2 and all went fine so the system should be good to go. I blasted it all off and started from scratch to install the Slackware.

Any help, info, or links will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Going gray here.

Read your post wrong at first pass, thought you may have been a victim of the mkisofs boot-loader-size problem. If the CD boots and setup works to the choice of install media "selection", then maybe you have a bad CD burn.

Hi,

I would agree that you should check the md5sum of the iso;

If you downloaded the cd/dvd iso then be sure to check the md5sum for the original iso. From the cli;

Code:
~#cd /downloadisolocation      #cdromiso.iso cdromiso.md5

~#md5sum -c cdromiso.md5       #substitute the correct name to check
If the iso md5 is ok then you should try 'CdromMd5sumsAfterBurning''.

This way you will know if the burn was OK!

This will check the download iso with the known md5sum that you also get with the iso.

This link and others are available from 'Slackware-Links'. More than just SlackwareŽ links!

BTW, Why choose 10.0?

Thanks guys a bad burn must be the issue. My first two passes with v12 I got r/w errors from Nero so I figured it was a corrupt file. I went back to the mirror v10 was at the top of the list I thought I'd try a different version and upgrade later. I'll get another from a different site and check before and after the burn.

I think I solved the issue. It was the AOpen cdrom. v12 won't install because it wanted a 586 architecture, I tried v10 and the cdrom locked up, next v8.1 same thing. I cracked open my win98 box and pulled the phillips cdrom out put in the other box and 8.1 is installing now. I had to manually select the drive since autodetect failed. I'll get 8.1 up and running, get online and upgrade from there.
Thanks again for the help, at least I knew where to look for trouble.
